Yes. Companies must maintain accounting records that support their tax filings and, under the corporate tax regime, retain them for at least seven years. Several free zones also require audited financial statements before they will renew a licence. “We will sort the books before the deadline” is no longer a viable plan.
Registration is mandatory for virtually every UAE company, including free zone entities and companies that make no profit. Deadlines depend on your licence issuance date and are enforced with administrative penalties for late registration. If you are unsure whether you have registered, check now rather than at year end. See corporate tax registration.
Registration is mandatory once taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the previous twelve months, or are expected to exceed it in the next thirty days. Voluntary registration is available from AED 187,500, which suits businesses that incur significant input VAT before revenue arrives.
It depends. Several free zones require audited statements at renewal. Mainland companies in certain activities and legal forms are required to audit. And any company claiming Qualifying Free Zone Person status for corporate tax must prepare audited financial statements regardless of what its zone demands. See audit services.
