Eligibility

Who qualifies for an investor visa

You own shares in a UAE company

Mainland or free zone. The licence must be active and the shareholding recorded in the memorandum or share certificate.

Your licence has visa quota

Free zone quotas come with the package; mainland quotas scale with registered office area. No quota means no visa, whatever your shareholding.

You clear security screening

Standard immigration and security checks apply. Previous UAE visa history, including absconding records or unresolved cases, is reviewed.

You have health insurance

Mandatory for every Dubai resident before the visa is issued. We arrange quotes alongside the application.

What we will need from you

If you are converting from a visit visa inside the UAE, the status change must be completed before the visit visa expires. Overstaying triggers daily fines and complicates the application, so plan the timing with us before you fly.
Process

From licence to stamped visa

01

Confirm your quota

We check the visa allocation on your licence and, if it is short for the number of shareholders, quote the upgrade before anything is filed.
02

Entry permit application

Filed through the company’s e-channel or free zone portal. Usually issued within three to seven working days.
03

Entry or status change

You enter the UAE on the permit, or we adjust your status from inside the country if you are already here.
04

Medical, Emirates ID and stamping

Medical fitness test, biometrics at an ICP centre, then electronic issuance of the residence visa and delivery of the Emirates ID.
Questions

Investor visa questions

For a standard investor or partner visa obtained through your own company, there is no separate investment threshold beyond holding shares in a validly licensed UAE entity and having the visa quota to support it. Thresholds like AED 2 million relate to the ten-year Golden Visa, not the standard investor visa. In practice, owning a free zone company with a one-visa package is sufficient.

Yes, provided the licence carries a quota of at least two visas and both hold shares. This is one of the most common reasons founders end up upgrading a package shortly after incorporation — the entry tier often allows only one. We size the quota for all shareholders from the start.

It allows you to manage and work in your own company. It does not permit you to take employment with a different employer — that requires a work permit from that employer. If you plan to consult for others as well as run your own business, tell us; the structure needs to reflect that.

The visa is sponsored by the company, so it is cancelled when the licence is cancelled. You normally receive a grace period to exit or transfer to another sponsor. If you intend to wind down but stay in the UAE, plan the transition before cancellation rather than after.
