But its structural advantage is physical space near an airport, so a purely office-based consultancy is paying for proximity it will never use. Choose Dubai South when goods, warehousing or aviation are part of the model.
JAFZA is older, larger and sits beside the Jebel Ali seaport, which makes it the stronger choice for sea freight and heavy industry. Dubai South is newer, cheaper and airport-adjacent, which favours air cargo, e-commerce fulfilment and lighter operations.
For standard, non-regulated activities with complete documents, expect the licence within three to ten working days. Residence visas add a further two to four weeks after issuance, and corporate bank account opening runs three to eight weeks in parallel.
